June sessions
Join us and Cat Regi, for a mindful 'Antiperfection Art' workshop. Cat creates meaningful and accessible art, and through her art and social media presence, she also highlights neurodivergent perspectives and the importance of community and creativity. Antiperfection Circles are about relaxing and practicing enjoying the process. Lots of loose, colourful painting followed by lots of doodling on top. A great mindfulness practice and way of unwinding on your own or with family/friends. For this session, you can use art supplies you might have already at home, or see this article for inspiration of free materials you can use which you might have kicking around in the house (e.g. coffee!) https://badibidu.com/blogs/blogibidu/best-kit-to-get-started-with-watercolour-on-any-budget Book here

We’ll be joined by carers Clare, Marie and Vic for a discussion on being a parent carer and some of the challenges that come with this. We'll be discussing their personal experiences, including issues arising when a child becomes an adult, as well as considering some of the wider societal issues related to social care. There will also be opportunities for you to ask questions and share your own reflections and experiences. Book here
In this session, author and mental health advocate Susan Grundy shares lessons learned on her lifelong journey of caring, triggered by her older sister’s diagnosis of schizophrenia at the age of thirteen. Poignant, deeply moving and woven with humour, Susan’s recent memoir, Mad Sisters, radiates with the potential for well-being and hope despite the collateral damage of mental illness in a family. In this session, Susan will share how she saved herself from drowning in the push-pull whirlpool (resentment-guilt) of the often overlooked sibling carer. Book here
