With society still reeling from the effects of the pandemic, the Carers Summit aimed to identify positive solutions and policy changes that could be made by statutory authorities, carers support organisations and communities to make life better for unpaid carers.

Hosted by Carers Wales and funded by Welsh Government, the online Summit took place the week beginning 7th February 2022. Throughout the week focus group sessions were held on a variety of topics, co-facilitated with a range of organisations.

During the sessions, carers shared their experiences, evidence was gathered and carers articulated how services should and could respond to their needs now and in the future. Key points raised during the week were presented in the form of questions to a panel of health and social care experts in the Friday plenary session.

You can watch highlights from the plenary session in the video below:

Carers Summit: Next Steps Webinar

On Friday morning during Carers Week (6-12 June 2022), we hosted a follow-up event to the Carers Summit.  The event was an opportunity to update you on actions taken since the Summit and outline the next steps. We invited the panel members back to give updates on the actions they committed to and other work they have done to support carers.

You can watch a recording of the webinar below. Many thanks to the panel members for returning to give an update and all the carers who attended.
