Carers NI has published a carer manifesto for Northern Ireland’s pending Local Government elections, which take place in May 2023. The manifesto calls for all parties and candidates contesting the election to support the following key pledges:

1. Deliver bespoke cost of living or hardship grants for people providing unpaid care.
2. Introduce concessionary rates for council leisure services for unpaid carers.
3. Implement carer-friendly workplace policies and supports for council staff with unpaid caring roles.
