Carers Week 2025 is here, and to start the week our Chief Executive Helen Walker has a message on why everyone should join us in saying “We care about equality for carers.”

My name is Helen Walker, I'm Chief Executive of Carers UK and we're the lead charity partner of Carers Week.  

Carers Week is such an important moment in the year because it helps us to raise awareness of caring, and the challenges that carers face, so it's an opportunity for us to talk about caring and be really vocal about it. 

This year’s big focus for Carers Week is “Caring About Equality”. 

We’d encourage everybody to get involved with Carers Week this year to help us raise that issue of equality, to help carers read the report that we're launching on equality, to help with their own health and wellbeing, and to help us just raise that profile. So it's really important that people get involved. 

They can get involved in events, they can do that locally, they can do that nationally. 

This Carers Week, we want everyone to join us in saying, “we care about equality for carers.”
