Carers NI is delighted to have been voted Charity of the Year by Lloyd’s Banking Group’s Community Banking Resolve team in Belfast.

The Resolve team hopes to raise money for Carers NI through exciting initiatives including a charity football match, bag packing and taking on the Belfast marathon in May and will support Carers NI to reach, connect and support unpaid carers looking after a loved one.

Over the past two years, more than 30 members of the Resolve team have used their staff volunteer days to help Carers NI raise awareness of caring and the supports available.

From distributing carers’ rights guides in local hospitals and medical centres to creating a database of carer discounts available at local attractions and entertainment centres, the team has gone above and beyond to help connect local people with advice and information.

By holding information stands in local hospitals they have engaged 140 carers and identified and registered 21 carers with their local Health and Social Care Trusts for support.

Clare-Anne Magee, Head of Carers NI said:

“We are delighted that the staff in the Community Banking Resolve team chose us as their Charity of the Year for 2019.

“We’ve worked with the Resolve team for the past 2 years and they have played a hugely important role helping us to spread the word about carers’ rights and the information available to unpaid carers through their staff volunteering days. Their help has enabled us to reach out and connect carers to support and services, including local Health and Social Care Trusts. We’re delighted that they will continue to help us through their staff volunteer days and we very much look forward to working with them through their fundraising efforts over the course of the year.”

Steven Henderson, Community Banking Resolve said:

“It’s fantastic to be supporting Carers NI this year through fundraising and volunteering. Through our volunteering in 2017 & 2018 it has been great to see the work Carers NI do in our local communities and even better to be involved and help make a difference. We have a number of colleagues who themselves are carers for family members so they are also really keen to get behind a charity that can make a huge difference in the local community.

We’re kicking off our fundraising efforts with a Charity Football Match on Sunday 24th March at Seaview at 5pm. It’s open to the public - there’s no entry fee we’re just asking for a donation at the gate. We’ve also already planned a bag pack at a local supermarket in April and a few of the team are running in the Belfast City Marathon in May. We hope to raise not just funds but awareness of carers and the supports available to them through all of our activities this year.”
