We were thrilled to receive so many brilliant entries to this year's members' photography competition. Thank you to everyone who entered and congratulations to our winners.
Comment from our competition judge, Becky Mursell
"For the past couple of years, I have been running online photography workshops with Carers UK as part of their Share and Learn programme. The workshops have been great fun to deliver, with the strength of carers’ photography in these workshops always shining through.
"This year we decided to do something different to publicly showcase their talent and so held a photography competition alongside supporting workshops.
"The competition had two themes; ‘The World We Care In’ and ‘Nature on Our Doorstep’. I chose the themes with the hope that carers would feel inspired, would enjoy exploring the topics and would produce nuanced images that only someone who is in a caring position could take.
"As anticipated, the quality of entries was incredibly high which made judging the competition tough. However, a few entries really stood out.
"The winner of ‘The World We Care In’ by Ian Hadley I felt encapsulated so much. His careful framing alongside the sense of humour and the strong spirit he captured in his subject made the image a worthy winner.
"Whilst the striking portrait of the cat by Kim Bloomhill for ‘Nature on Our Doorstep’ I felt really resonated with the brief. It was a striking image that had great energy and was beautifully framed.
"Congratulations to everyone who took part and I truly hope you all continue with your photography."
