We're pleased to announce the winners of our 2025 Members' Photography Competition!

Our two themes for this year were ‘All about caring’ and ‘In my community’, and we received so many fantastic entries – thank you to everyone who took the time to enter.

Thank you also to our judges: professional photographer Becky Mursell and Carers UK Trustees David Josephs and Ginny Pulbrook.

Theme one: All about caring

First place: Ruth Watson

Judges' comments: We felt this image encapsulated ‘trying to do your best whilst caring’. We loved the way the image spoke about creating and sharing moments of fun and colour – helping to make life more bearable and for a brief moment in time, forget the challenges both might be facing.

Photo of two people in a hydro pool

Second place: Gaynor Wright

Judges' comments: We loved the emotion that this image evokes and felt that this image could be relatable to many carers – capturing the unrestrained joy for both people that an hour in a hydro pool can make.

A photo of two people embracing

Third place: Marion Mitchell

Judges' comments: We felt this image really captured a sense of ‘love will get us through’. For us, it epitomises ‘love and care’ with the strength of the image also coming from the equal sense of feelings being expressed. A beautifully composed image with good lighting too.

A photo of two children holding hands

Highly commended: Tallish Drayak

Judges' comments: We thought this image showed a real sense of ‘I’ll always be there for you’ alongside the busy-ness that goes with caring. A well-balanced composition.

Theme two: In my community

First place: Helen Magley

Judges' comments: On many levels, we loved what this image encapsulates. On one hand, it brilliantly captures this young man’s excitement and pride to be at the game – and we thought it could be very relatable to all people who love football! We also felt it was a powerful message to be sharing – how communities and experiences can be opened up by providing suitable access and spaces for all to share and enjoy.

Photo of two people seated

Second place: Lynsey Bessent

Judges' comments: We thought this image should be titled ‘Girls on tour’ and loved the way they were having a lot of fun out about in their community. It was also a visually striking image.

Photo of someone sitting in a chair outside of a pub

Third place: Celia Blake

Judges' comments: A title which came to mind was ‘Your round’. We loved the way this young man was proudly sat out and about in his local community.

Image of two people sitting in lawn chairs

Highly recommended: Gillian Bamber

Judges' comments: This was a nicely composed image where many of the smaller details in the photo really made us smile and demonstrated a sense of community at home.
