    Unpaid Carers and COVID-19 vaccination - briefing for Affiliates and Professionals in England

    ***POLICY BRIEFING UPDATED ON 24th FEBRUARY 2021*** The Government announced on Sunday 14th February that, the following Monday (15th February), unpaid carers will be included in the next phase of the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine in England and will begin to be called forward for vaccine. Following the Government announcement of Priority 6 group vaccinations beginning, NHS England wrote to GPs regarding identifying people within the Priority 6 cohort including unpaid carers.

    ***POLICY BRIEFING UPDATED ON 1ST FEBRUARY 2021***On 30th December 2020, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) published updated advice which recommends that carers who are in receipt of Carer’s Allowance or are the main carer of  an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if the carer contracted COVID should be included in Priority 6.
