MeTime sessions for carers
Our MeTime online sessions are designed to inform you of your rights and to support your wellbeing.
Sessions vary from practical advice on carers' rights and caring to a set of holistic wellbeing sessions that range from confidence-building to creative opportunities like crafting.
Sessions are open to anyone across the UK.
Please be aware these sessions are run by Carers Wales and information sessions are based on Welsh legislation.
Below you will find details of the sessions coming up. To sign up, click the link and fill out a short registration form. We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly and supportive sessions!
July

Tuesday 8 July, 12-1pm: Stretch and Relax
A chair-based stretch and relax session with Carol. This session will gently release tension from the body, particularly shoulders, head and neck. Along with easy breathing exercises to lead into relation.
What you’ll need: a chair to sit on and a if you have them to hand, a tie, belt or scarf – these will add to the stretch

Thursday 10 July, 1-2pm: Managing Guilt as a Carer
During this session, you can discover ways to gain clarity and empower yourself as a carer to look after you, boosting your health and wellbeing.
- Anticipatory grief – why caring is so difficult
- Positive and negative emotions, and the ‘Helper’s High’
- Carer’s guilt – why so many of us suffer this negative emotion and what we can do about it
- Great research on Caregivers and telomeres, by a Nobel prize-winner
- Ensuring carers take regular breaks
- Creating a ‘Me time’ list, to factor in ways to boost carers’ wellbeing.

Tuesday 15 July, 1-2pm: Creative Writing for Wellbeing
Cardiff author Rachel and Creative Producer Chantal will guide you through gentle writing prompts as a way to connect with and explore our relationship to creative writing. The workshop is designed to encourage reflection, mindfulness and creativity.

Tuesday 22 July, 3-4pm: Homefront WWII with National Museum Wales
What was life in Wales like during World War Two? Join this online session to explore World War II related objects with our facilitator. Discover the stories behind them and be inspired to investigate how your local area contributed to the war effort.

Take some time for yourself and connect with fellow carers at our friendly Book Club sessions. This is a space to unwind, chat with like-minded people, and enjoy the joy of getting lost in a good book. New to the group? No problem! Feel free to come along, listen in, and share your favourite reads whenever you're ready. Whether you’re an avid reader or just looking for a bit of escapism, we’d love to have you with us. Wednesday 6 August, 11am-12pm: Postcard Art – Crafty Catch Up
Bring out your watercolours, pastels, fine liner pens—or whatever inspires you—and join Carers Wales and fellow carers for our Postcard Art Crafty Catch-Up session. This relaxed and creative space is a chance to reconnect, unwind, and make use of all the wonderful art materials from our previous workshops. Whether you’re doodling, painting, or simply enjoying the company, we look forward to seeing you there and sharing a moment of creativity together that will inspire your Postcard Art entries.

Wednesday 3 September, 11am -12pm: Mindfulness
Join us for a friendly mindfulness based session for anyone with caring responsibilities - no experience needed. Mindfulness can help us cope with tricky situations in ourselves and others, develop our relationships, enhance our lives with gratitude, compassion, kindness, appreciation, and make better decisions. Let's explore the possibilities together

Thursday 4 September, 11am -12pm: Watercolour and Salt Painting - Art Workshop
To help inspire and create Postcard Art for our 60th Anniversary Exhibition, we are pleased to welcome back local artist Lucilla, to lead us as we explore Watercolour and Salt Painting. This workshop will create a calm space for a relaxed craft where you can learn a new skill and have time for yourself. We will supply you with the watercolour paper and paints, all you'll need to bring along to the session is some salt (basic kitchen salt will do) and some water. We look forward to seeing you at the session.

Tuesday 9 September, 1-2pm: Self Employment with Social Firms Wales
Join this session with Social Firms Wales to explore self-employment opportunities that could fit around your caring responsibilities.
Discover how self-employment can offer not only an additional income stream but also enhance your sense of identity, confidence, and skills.
This session will also cover the essential first steps to becoming self-employed, highlight key considerations, and provide a balanced look at the pros and cons of being your own boss.
The session will be facilitated by Jan Barwell, Enterprise Development Advisor at Social Firms Wales.

Tuesday 16 September 1-2pm: Grey Seals who visit the Welsh Coastline
Join us on a fascinating journey of discovery into the world of the magnificent Grey Seals that visit our stunning Welsh coastline.
Gareth Richards from the Gower Seal Group dedicates his time to protecting and conserving these globally rare animals—and even rescues sick and injured seal pups.
Gareth’s engaging presentation will reveal the hidden wonders of a world right on our doorstep. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, be inspired, and bring along plenty of questions!

Wednesday 24 September 11am - 12pm: Wildlife Photography
Join this informative online session and explore how being with nature can improve our mental and physical wellbeing. And how best to capture that through photography.

Monday September 29, 1 - 2pm: Are you a carer? what you need to know
Are you looking after someone? In this session you can find out about your rights as a carer, getting help and support, your finances and rights in work.

Wednesday 1 October, 11am - 12pm: Warm Wales
Warm Wales are committed to Healthy Homes and Healthy People. Join this session to find out how carers in Wales can have Warmer, Safer, Healthier Homes. Warm Wales aims to tackle fuel poverty, reduce avoidable health inequalities, and improve well -being. They have an easy-to-use self-referral system and a friendly and supportive team ready to offer help and advice.

Thursday 9 October, 1-2pm: Guided tour of Aberdulais with National Trust
Join us for an engaging talk on the history and heritage of the National Trust Aberdulais Tinworks and Waterfall site. Discover the fascinating stories behind this iconic location and its significance in our industrial past. The virtual tour will be led by our experienced volunteers, and there will be a chance to ask questions and see video footage of the stunning waterfall.

Monday 13 October, 11am-12pm: Alzheimer’s Society Cymru
We are pleased to welcome back the Alzheimer’s Society, who will be providing an overview of their services in Wales specifically to support unpaid carers through the journey with their loved ones. During this session they will share knowledge, information and practical support for anyone affected by dementia or who may be worried about a possible diagnosis. Their services are free and can be accessed via telephone, online or face to face and tailored to suit the needs of the individual. Join us online to find out more.

Thursday 16 October, 1:30 - 2:30pm: Finding yourself after caring
Finding Yourself After Caring is a session that supports people adjusting to life after their caring role has ended. It offers space to reflect on the experience, think about what comes next, and start rebuilding confidence. The session includes practical guidance and the chance to connect with others in a similar situation.

Wednesday 22 October, 1-2pm: Virtual Canal Walk with National Trust
Join us for a captivating virtual walk along the Neath Canal, a site steeped in heritage and now a haven for wildlife. We will explore the nature on our doorstep and uncover the rich history of this beautiful canal. Led by National Trust staff and volunteers, this virtual walk offers a chance to ask questions and enjoy the serene beauty of the canal and its diverse wildlife.

Thursday 30 October, 11am-12pm: Smart Support for Carers - A Guide to Jointly with Carers UK
Join Carers Wales for an informative online session exploring the Jointly App - a digital tool created by Carers UK to make caring easier, more coordinated, and less stressful. Whether you’re looking after someone on your own or sharing care responsibilities with others, Jointly helps you stay organised by combining care information in one simple, accessible place.
In this session, we’ll guide you through the app’s key features, including task lists, medication tracking, shared calendars, and more. You’ll also learn how to get started, who can use it, and how it can support your well-being as a carer.
