MeTime sessions for carers
Our MeTime online sessions are designed to inform you of your rights and to support your wellbeing.
Sessions vary from practical advice on carers' rights and caring to a set of holistic wellbeing sessions that range from confidence-building to creative opportunities like crafting.
Sessions are open to anyone across the UK.
Please be aware these sessions are run by Carers Wales and information sessions are based on Welsh legislation.

Thursday 2 May- 11am-12pm: When Coal Was King
When coal was king – Virtual Workshop
Dive into the rich coal mining history of south Wales by joining a coal miner as he starts his working day at Big Pit in 1978. Learn more about mining communities, not just during this period, but all the way back to the Industrial Revolution.
What impact did mining have on the environment? What was life like for a child worker of the Victorian period? How did changes in technology improve the lives of miners and their wives?
Wednesday 8 May - 2-3pm: Book Club
Come along to our first informal and relaxed Book Club session! The session is a chance for carers to get together and take some time for themselves, have a chat with like-minded people and share the escapism of getting lost in a good book. Just bring your favourite book, we'd love to hear a bit about why it's your favourite (no worries if you'd rather just listen in). At the end of the session we will decide which book we fancy reading ahead of the next session and discuss future dates.
Wednesday 15 May - 1-2pm: Dementia Action Week with Alzheimer’s Society Cymru
It’s Dementia Action Week and Alzheimer’s Society Cymru would like to provide you with an overview of their latest campaigns and focus as well as a summary of their services; specifically those to support unpaid carers through the dementia journey with their loved ones. The Alzheimer’s Society provides knowledge, information and practical support for anyone affected by dementia or those who may be worried about possible symptoms and diagnosis. Services are free and can be accessed via telephone, online or face to face, tailored to suit the needs of the individual and providing support for as long as is required, being there for you again and again and again.
Tuesday 21 May - 1.30-3pm: Red Cross First Aid
This interactive first aid online workshop helps adults learn basic lifesaving skills using everyday objects. The workshop is not accredited, but is a free and simple way to improve your first aid knowledge and build confidence.
June
Monday 3 June - 2-3pm: Book Club
Tuesday 4 June - 3-4pm: Mindfulness
Join us for our popular quarterly session of Mindfulness. Learn how to calm racing thoughts, let go of negativity and soothe your mind and body.
Friday 7 June - 1.30-2.30pm: Knit and natter
Calling all knitters! Our volunteres are creating a knitted blanket to celebrate our 60th Anniversary at Carers UK. If you fancy getting involved come along to this session to find out more.
Carers Week
Monday 10th June - 1-2pm: Wellbeing for unpaid carers
This session will explore simple tools and techniques that can boost your wellbeing.
Wednesday 12th June - 10-11am: Mind, Body and Mood
Thursday 13th June - 11am-12pm: Change is what you make it
As circumstances change, you may be looking to return to the world of work, or perhaps you find that you have more time on your hands to looking at hobbies or rebuilding a social life. This session will explore how we deal with change, what gets in the way, and techniques to overcome some of these hurdles. It will provide some useful techniques to rediscover what might bring us joy, and to dare to dream about living our lives in tune with our true values and beliefs.

Wednesday 10th July - 11am-12pm: Getting the most out of your Carers Assessment.
Tuesday 16th July - 1-2pm: Crafty Catch Up
Join this online session to meet other carers whilst working on your latest craft project. Whether it is knitting, crochet, diamond dot art, card making, quilling, rock painting, jewellery making or simply anything you enjoy making. This session is informal and a chance to chat, create and connect with other carers.
Thursday 18th July - 11- 12pm: Could you be a Digital Champion?
August
Tuesday 6 August - 1-2pm: Money Matters for Carers
Join out information and advice officer as she goes through the money support options going into the winter and the other ways you may be able to access financial support.
Thursday 15 August - 11am-12pm: PAPYRUS, Prevention of Young Suicide.
PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. PAPYRUS exists to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives, by shattering the stigma surrounding suicide and equipping young people and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to emotional distress.
