Tell your story: We Care

Sharing your own personal experience is a powerful way to help raise awareness of what it means to be a carer.

Click the button to share your own story, and read the information below to find out more about how we'll use your stories on the website.

How will my story be used?

On our website

We are producing an online display of carers' stories in the UK and we'd love to feature your stories on it.

If we can include your real name and a photo of you and maybe of the person you care for, that makes the story come to life. But if you don't want to display your real name or photo, just put a pseudonym in the 'Display name' field and don't attach a photo.

On our Facebook or Twitter page

Sometimes we read a story and find a sentence or two which we think really sums up a particular caring experience. When we do, we post these on our Facebook or Twitter page, often anonymously. If you share a photo with us we may use this on Facebook or Twitter.

In the media

We may get back to you if we think your story might be something we could share with media - whether a local or national newspaper, a magazine, on the radio or on TV. We would never share your story with a journalist without your consent.

More about photos

It's up to you if you want to include a photo or not.

However, we are much more likely to feature stories on our website and on social media if they do include photos. Photos can make your stories more powerful as they help someone reading your story to relate to your situation. The photo can be of just you, or of you and the person you care for.

Sharing your story

When we've published your story, we'll send you a link to the story so you can share it with your own social networks.
