Carers Rights Day

Having the right information at the right time can make all the difference when you’re looking after someone.

Each year we hold Carers Rights Day to bring organisations across the UK together to help carers in their local community know their rights and find out how to get the help and support they are entitled to.

We hold Carers Rights Day to:

  • Make carers aware of their rights
  • Let carers know where to get help and support
  • Raise awareness of the needs of carers

In 2018 Carers Rights Day was on Friday 30 November. We published a research report illustrating that the financial pressure of caring unpaid for a loved one intensifies over time, which you can read here.

Carers Rights Day 2018: Caring for Your Future

Every day 6,000 people become carers but often it’s not something we’ve planned for. For Carers Rights Day in 2018 we focused on supporting people to prepare for the future through our theme: Caring for Your Future.

Carers Rights Day 2018 was kindly supported by Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition and Specsavers.

Find out more about Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition and our range of free nutrition resources for carers.

Find out more about Specsavers’ home visit service or call 0800 652 4948 to find out if you’re eligible.

Get involved in 2019

Hundreds of organisations across the UK hold an event or activity for Carers Rights Day to help people in their community find out about their rights as a carer, and where to go for support.

We will start planning for the next Carers Rights Day in the summer of 2019. Please watch this page for further updates.
