Helping carers be heard

Unpaid carers are entitled to be in control of their lives and have a right to be treated as key partners in care.

However sometimes carers find themselves unable to express their own needs or the needs of the person they caring for. In these circumstances an advocate can help to make sure that the persons views are heard, and support carers achieve positive outcomes.

This course is about helping to enable carers to express their wishes, obtain their rights and work towards getting the services that they need. The aim of this course is to provide participants with an understanding of the role advocacy can play in supporting unpaid carers and the key building blocks of effective advocacy support.

The course will support participants to help carers express themselves effectively, source accurate information and safeguard their rights.
