Carers and telehealthcare

The aim of these sessions is to provide participants with an understanding of the benefits of telecare for carers. Telecare is not a panacea. However, it is powerful and effective resource which can support many people to live at home for as long as they want to, in comfort and safety, with the best possible health and quality of life.

Trainer: Patricia Clark, Development and Training Manager Carers Scotland

Duration: Half day/two hour session/induction resource (available in-house only)

Suitable for: Advisers, carers’ workers, social workers, care managers and health services staff, voluntary sector workers.

Participants will at the end of this session understand:

  • Who carers are.
  • What is telehealthcare.
  • What the benefits of telecare for unpaid carers are.

Participants will also be presented with information on:

  • The background of carers.
  • The demographics of carers in Scotland.
  • The impacts of caring.
  • Carers’ assessments.
  • A digest of the Leeds University Research study.
  • Case study examples – including digital stories and interviews with users and carers
