Star line up announced for Text Santa

28 November 2011

TS_ITV_BlackITV today announced the exciting line-up of talent, who will be presenting two exhilarating entertainment events over Christmas, for its major new charity initiative Text Santa.

Ant and Dec, Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley will host the fun-filled festive shows and will also be joined by other ITV household names.  The events will also feature some of the most loved names from television, music and show business and look set to deliver plenty of laughs and fun from some of the best faces on the box.

The first show kicks off on 11th December with a live one hour special hosted by Phillip and Christine, with an exciting finale taking place on Christmas Eve, on ITV1.  Co-hosted by Ant and Dec, with further talent hosts to be announced, both shows will combine surprise studio items with some amazing pre-recorded entertainment pieces that will be uplifting and celebrate the spirit of goodwill and good fortune at Christmas.  The programmes will bring to life the charities and the Text Santa appeal while encouraging viewers to text donate throughout.

Stars of ITV2's The Only Way Is Essex are to donate all profits from their Christmas single to the Text SANTA appeal.
The single is a cover of Wham’s Last Christmas and will be released through Globe Records on 18th December.
The cast are hoping that it will claim the coveted Christmas number one spot - it reached number 2 on its original release in 1984.

The aim of Text Santa is to raise awareness and money for those most vulnerable during the festive period and will appeal to the public to raise money mainly via text donation.  The appeal will be promoted through primetime programming on ITV and supported by activity from key partners including Asda in stores nationwide.
