Carers Scotland urges carers to ask for their flu vaccination
Carers Scotland today urged carers in Scotland to ask their GP for their flu jab.
Flu isn’t just a bad cold, it can really hit people hard and fast, especially if you are more vulnerable to the virus or are caring for someone.
Even if you feel perfectly fit and healthy, flu can strike people with an underlying health condition such as diabetes, asthma or other lung, liver or heart conditions, with more severe effect. If you’re eligible, you should take up the offer of the flu vaccine from your GP to protect yourself from the nasty effects of flu.
Other people including pregnant women and people over 65 are also more vulnerable to infection but the vaccine will protect you from flu for a year. It takes a few minutes to get and it’s better safe than sorry.
