Carers N.I. and TrustFord announce partnership

24 November 2017

TrustFord and Carers N.I. have today announced the launch of a one year partnership. The move formally recognises TrustFord Motability as a supporter of the charity, and will widen the outreach of both organisations to carers and disabled people throughout Northern Ireland.

TrustFord, the UK’s largest Ford dealer group, has a long-standing Motability scheme, which helps disabled customers find the right car for them. Carers N.I. is a charity dedicated to supporting the 70,000 people in Northern Ireland who become carers every year. The joint efforts of the two organisations will ensure that carers and disabled customers receive the help they need when buying a car and beyond.

Stuart Foulds, Chief Executive of TrustFord, said: “The partnership was a natural choice for a number of reasons. Both our organisations are committed to colleague education as a crucial component of improving accessibility in a retail environment.”

As part of the partnership TrustFord will elect twelve Workplace Champions/Motability Specialists to receive Carer Awareness Training, ensuring there is always someone on-hand informed about the specific challenges facing carers and those they care for. There will also be a range of information leaflets, including Carers’ Rights Guides, available in TrustFord locations across Northern Ireland.

The partnership will also facilitate TrustFord’s communication with the 220,000 carers in Northern Ireland. In particular, with Carers N.I.’s 1,500 individual members and network of volunteers, affiliates and professional partners. This will involve a close brand association, as well as promoting Carers Week events in TrustFord sites across N.I. in June, and at the official launch event. There will also be increased opportunities for all TrustFord colleagues to take part in staff Volunteer Days, to raise funds for and awareness of the work done by Carers N.I.

Clare-Anne Magee, General Manager, Carers N.I. said: “Carers N.I is clearly aligned with TrustFord in its aim to reach as many carers as possible. A large proportion simply do not realise that they qualify as carers, and therefore miss out on financial and other support as a result. Through this partnership with TrustFord, we will be able to work to identify potential beneficiaries, and offer them targeted support.”

Carers N.I. has over 20 years’ experience of helping individuals find their identities, doubling their reach in the past year. This expertise will help people identify themselves as potential Motability customers, and help promote the services offered by the scheme.

Stuart Foulds, Chief Executive of TrustFord, added: “The partnership signals a clear commitment to ensuring all TrustFord colleagues are educated and equipped to drive the standard in customer care: a fantastic opportunity for customers, Carers N.I. and TrustFord alike."
