1 million minutes

1 MILLION MINUTES FINAL LOGO 01As part of ITV Good Morning Britain’s ‘1 Million Minutes’ campaign, Carers UK is joining forces with other charities to combat loneliness across the UK.

Through our work with the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness, we know that as many as 8 in 10 carers feel lonely or isolated.

With 6.5 million people looking after an older, ill, or disabled loved one across the UK right now, there has never been a more important time to put volunteers in touch with carers at increased risk of isolation.

As part of the 1 Million Minutes campaign, we're asking people to pledge anything from 15 to 120 of volunteer minutes to help carers feel less lonely. Alongside the campaign’s partner charities, we’re hoping to generate over 1 million minutes of volunteering to break isolation within the community.

From Monday 27 November through to the end of December, you can pledge volunteer minutes to Carers UK as part of this campaign.

You could give:

30 minutes a month
Use your social media networks to reach carers who are socially isolated and connect them with each other on Carers UK’s online forum

60 minutes a month
Pledge to volunteer in your workplace to reach carers who may be feeling socially isolated and connect them vital information and support provided by Carers UK’s

One-off opportunity for Christmas
Visit a carer in your community who may be feeling socially isolated and show them how they can access support from Carers UK
