Chief Executive of Carers UK, Heléna Herklots CBE is stepping down to take up the post of Older People’s Commissioner for Wales.

05 June 2018

After almost 7 years as Chief Executive of Carers UK, Heléna Herklots CBE is stepping down to take up the post of Older People’s Commissioner for Wales.

Heléna Herklots CBE said:

“It has been an honour and a privilege to lead Carers UK since 2012 and to meet and work with so many inspiring people. I know that the charity will go from strength to strength, with carers at the heart of all it does.

“I’d like to thank all those who I have met and worked with, particularly the carers who have shared so much of their experience, wisdom and tenacity with me. The carers cause is close to my heart, and will remain so in the future.”

Professor David Grayson CBE, Chairman of Carers UK, added:

“Heléna has been instrumental in leading us forward, she is leaving us with a clear positive direction and strategy for the future. She has built the profile and impact of Carers UK and has been a tireless campaigner for a society that respects, values and supports carers. Her commitment to improving the lives of carers was deservedly recognised with a CBE in 2017. It has been a privilege to work with her.

“We are delighted for Heléna that she will be taking up the post of Older People’s Commissioner for Wales. She leaves Carers UK with our enormous appreciation and gratitude, and our best wishes for her new challenge.”

Carers UK is undertaking an immediate executive search to recruit Heléna’s successor.
