We Care. Don’t You? message delivered to Parliament

Tomorrow (Thursday 11 September) a message from the UK’s carers will be delivered to every MP in Parliament as the next step in our We Care. Don’t You? campaign. 

The letter, signed by almost 6,000 carers – representing the 6,000 people each day who become carers – says:

“…..Sometimes we feel like we cannot carry on. If we did stop caring, it would cost the Government £326 million a day – £119 billion a year.

But carers can’t stop, we can’t go on strike and we can’t all travel to London to protest outside Downing Street. Our loved ones need us. The NHS and social care services would collapse without the care we provide…..”

It calls on MPs to take action in Parliament to:

  • Stop cuts to support for carers
  • End carers’ financial hardship
  • Prevent carer breakdown

As the letters are delivered to MPs a group of carers will gather outside Parliament to represent all those who have signed the letter.

Send the letter to your MP

Download the letter and send a copy by post or email to your MP. Include your own covering letter describing your experiences of caring and asking your MP what they will do to call for better support for carers.
