"It's crazy to think we started training for this event in November and now the marathon has been and gone"

11 May 2015 by Louise Flisher

So it's crazy to think we started training for this event in November and now the marathon has been and gone. This week has been awful as I've come down with a sickness bug (or the after effects). I actually didn't feel that much pain the next day which was good!

Colin and LouiseThe London Marathon was crazy and amazing. Running past all the sites and the thousands of people cheering you on is indescribable. I have never been so scared about something in my life, but the belief from my husband and my teammates was incredible.

Colin one of my team got injured (or more injured!) and I decided that sticking it out with him was more important to me than getting a time, we did our social thing of holding hands over the finish and that was amazing. Our finish was emotional and I was more proud of Colin than I was of myself. He has raised £5644 to be precise for the British Heart Foundation in memory of his father and it all got too much for him. This then choked me up that it meant so much to him to finish.

Nevertheless, I am proud of my £2,220 that I have raised for this AMAZING charity, without charities like Carers UK the world would be a much worse off place. I was proud to run the whole 26.2 miles in my Carers UK top and make people aware and open their eyes to a small, low key charity that needs way more recognition.

We have all entered Paris next year and making it a bit of a holiday too so I am super excited about that. Carers UK will always be in my thoughts as I have really opened my eyes to what they do. This journey itself has just been incredible and I can tick it off my Bucket List!
