Share and Learn online sessions

We're running a series of fun and relaxed online sessions where visiting speakers share tips and skills on a range of topics.

From yoga to singing, and first aid to photography, there's something for everyone. We add new sessions every week so keep an eye on this page for more!

Want to meet other carers? Join our weekly online Care for a Cuppa chats where you can grab a cuppa, take a little break and chat with fellow carers who understand what you’re going through via Zoom.

Carers in Wales can also join our Me Time sessions.


How to sign up

Our Share and Learn events are generally bookable via Zoom. Once you have registered, you will be sent a sign up link. Please note you may not receive your link straight away. If you have registered during the weekend or during out of office hours, you will receive a confirmation email as soon as possible.


Session recording

To help more carers enjoy the benefits of Share and Learn, certain sessions will be recorded. Only the speaker/facilitator’s section will be publicly shared. If you do not wish to be recorded, you are welcome to turn off your camera/audio during this part of the session.

Share and Learn - June sessions

Weekly Yoga for physical and mental wellbeing with Sangeeta Bhandari – Thursday 24 June, 5-6:00pm
In these Yoga sessions you will be taken through gentle stretches to relieve your physical stress, breathing techniques to promote calmness, yoga poses to improve posture, and periods of meditation for relaxation. Sangeeta is an experienced yoga teacher who has trained for many years in India and taught worldwide. Each week she will guide you through a different themed class enhancing your understanding and experience of the holistic practice of Yoga. Sangeeta‘s practice focuses on a moving meditation with dynamic and static postures, that allow the body, mind, and breath to become one through explorative yoga poses, chanting, pranayama, meditation, and Yoga-Nidra. No previous experience necessary. Booking is limited to 30 participants. Book here.
 
Laughter Medicine Workshops with Jaycee La Bouche – Thursday June 24, 3-4:00pm
Join Jaycee La Bouche, carer and certified Laughter Yoga Leader, for two fun workshops with laughter exercises, breathing techniques, gentle movement, and visualization. Laughter Medicine is a simple, yet powerful practice, based on the scientific fact that the body cannot tell the difference between real and fake laughter. Laughter reduces stress, boosts the mood, improves energy levels, encourages confidence, while also breaks down language barriers. Booking is limited to 20 participants. Book here.
 
Peace of Mind Wellbeing session - Friday 18 June 2021, 3-4:30pm
Mindfulness offers easy to follow techniques to help find relaxation and some peace of mind whenever there are feelings of stress and worry. When our attention is focused on the present, we become aware of a stable space, where we feel calmer, can see more clearly and make more satisfying choices. Join Mike from Peace of Mind Now for a 90-minute workshop to reinforce your mindfulness. This event is limited to 20 participants. Book here.
 
Tips and guidance for new carers – Wednesday 23 June, 3-4:00pm
Are you a new to caring? Priya from Carers UK's Helpline Advisory team will be joining us to offer tips and guidance on actions to take when you are new to a caring role. Places will be limited to 25 participants. Book here.
 
Nutrition and Caring – Wednesday 30 June, 3-4:00pm
Do you have questions about nutrition? To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Carers UK and Nutricia partnership, we are hosting a Share and Learn aimed at providing information about good nutrition and your diet as a carer to stay healthy and manage your caring role. Book here.

Share and Learn - July sessions

Pilates for Beginners (with Emma Marks, Pilates Evolved), 4-5:00pm on Tuesdays this July
The ideal weekly opportunity to focus on your mental and physical wellbeing. These mindful, and restorative classes are geared towards complete beginners with no prior Pilates experience, and will give an in-depth, full introduction to the Pilates method. Emma Marks has been teaching Pilates for over 5 years and loves nothing more than sharing this feel-good movement practice with others. She would like to invite carers to join her for these welcoming sessions, and to enjoy this restorative, yet energising movement system. Booking is limited to 30 participants per session. 
 
Friday Music Live with Orchestra Vitae ensemble, Friday 16 July, 5-6:00pm

Welcome to Friday Music Live! Orchestra Vitae join us once again to introduce you to some excellent music for your mood and mental health, including an opportunity to get involved as well. A perfect way to finish off your week. Book here.

Beginners Latin Dance session, Friday 23 July, 4-5:00pm
Join our Salsa and Bachata session, delivered by Latin Motion, who will be providing an introduction to Latin American dance footwork and body movement. The session will give beginners a solid base of the most commonly used steps and turns and help uplift both your mental and physical wellbeing, along with providing some much-needed social interaction with live teaching, questions and feedback.
