Can someone on State Pension Benefit from Carer's Allowance

Share your ideas about the practical side of caring.
My mother has to care 24x7 for my father now that he is terminally ill.

She is over 65 and claiming a state pension. My father already gets Disability Living Allowance. Can she apply for Carer's Allowance and if so will this affect her pension payment. The website talks about 'underlying benefits' that may be available if not. Does anyone know what these are?

Thanks in advance
Its always best to get advice regarding benefits as each set of circumstances differ.Your local welfare rights office can help or alternatively contact carersline who can do a full benefit check..

CarersLine can offer advice on any issue to do with caring and disability such as benefits, hospital discharge, employment issues, making a complaint, getting a social services assessment and much more.

The service is free. Unfortunately the service is currently only open for 2 days a week. However we do have an answerphone service if you leave details an advisor will call you back.
