Glad it's something that might be considered!

Yes, timely reminder about the 'real world' carers groups, though I guess one key problem is actually getting to them! So many of our members here are effectively housebound.

Chris - already in MIL's home they have a whole section on War Time music, lots of Glenn Miller, Vera Lyn etc, with a kind of 'museum display' of that period as well. So, yes, I suppose my generation will be more Heavy Metal and Beatles, etc. etc :)

Always took exception to the nation's beloved Vera.

Her " Whale meat again " was also condemned by Greenpeace.

Still , made a change from bully beef , I suppose.

And to think the Yank's pin up at the time was Betty Grable.

Short changed again ?

Chris & Jenny - you're going off topic (AGAIN)

You're supposed to be coming up with suggestions as to how carers can meet up with like-minded people !

Sorry miss ... I won't do it again (while you are looking ).

The schoolboy element is always near the surface in any adult male ?

Thanks Susie ... a rather " Awkward " topic that may need a little humour from time to time , to sweeten the medicine ?

Just sticking my nose in... :D I may be the one of the couple mentioned in an earlier post. I was a carer and active member of this site until my Mum died three years ago. I met and married the love of my life here and we are celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary at the end of this month.

The funny thing, I would have never used a dating site as my focus was on caring and wasn't looking for anything else. And we both know that we were very lucky looking back. If it wasn't for Carers UK we would have never met.

Ollie, oh and India77 (A.k.a. Indy)

Susie - I thought you had. And my suggestion was making that dedicate thread.

This isn't really anything to do with me, so I'm out of here.

Sort it out amongst yourselves. Including you, Susie. (Sorry, but I feel 'put down' and I don't see why I should be.)

Hello Ollie

Lovely to 'see' you - glad to know that all is well in your Indy's world :)

Sorry you feel 'put down' Jenny - but I didn't say what you have ascribed to me; and to put matters into perspective it is highly unlikely that Carers UK will ever start a dedicated dating thread - it's not what the forum is about ! There are far too many pitfalls in going down that route. Not least is how we would be able to 'police' anyone placing a personal ad to ensure that they are genuine.

Nikki has given me this link to a website that looks like it's focused on setting up people with similar lifestyles - however neither she, Carers UK or myself can endorse it as we don't know what the site is like.

Just curious ... honest !!! ... click on PRICING at the top.

That's all most carers need to know , almost a hot meal a day for some ?

Now , where's that thread on Carer Discount Cards .... ?
