Hi Natalie,
I know just how you feel. I've been caring for my Mum for 10 years now and feel like a prisoner in my own home.
I've come to the point where because of her selfish attitude I find it difficult to love her any more. We used to be great friends and go to the London theatres together and various other trips but now she just thinks of herself. I can't even hold a conversation with her.
I'm going to the hairdresser on Tuesday 15th December. This will be the first time I've been out since August!
She was in respite for six weeks last Christmas due to me having a breakdown but she refuses to go in EVER again!! So now I'm stuck. She won't even have a sit in service - sorry, but I feel very, very bitter as life is passing me by. I gave up work several years ago to care for her full time and I've not had a holiday since 2007!
