Hi. This is my first time here. My wife has M.S. and is undergoing chemotherapy for it at present. I was laid off last oct and we've decided that i should become her carer as after 22 years of taxes the dole has told me i only get 6 months JSA. The wife has been deteriorating quite quickly recently and it's easier if i stay with her. On top of that her Mum and Dad are quite ill too so i'm looking after them. Our youngest son has aspergers. So between looking after them i get no time to meself. And it always makes me feel guilty for wanting some me time. Hence me being here so if anyone would like to chat. please come say hello
Cheers Cav

Welcome to the forum Cav. You sure do have your hands full. There are quite a few things that may interest you. Like getting a full benefit check done, getting a carers assessment if not already had one.
If you want more information take a look at this link, menu down left hand side.

Look forward to reading more from you.

Hi Cav,

Wow, I cannot believe how much you have on your plate. I hope you sort out the benefits side of things and get what you deserve.

It is difficult not to feel guilty when you want some you time - I feel like that but I 'only' have my mum to look after. You probably hardly ever get any you time so you should and must make the most of every minute. As plenty of people will tell you, if you don't look after yourself, you will get sick and who will continue as carer to the rest of the family?

But, do get some help from Social Services Cav. It's just impossible to do everything by yourself and I'm sure your wife etc would not want you to kill yourself trying. It will make you a better carer and will reduce any chance of resentment, anger etc.

Good Luck.
