Fit for work NOT

All about money
One of my carees has just been deemed fit for work as he didn't fill the ESA form in, the reason he didn't fill in the form is he didn't know how to.
He can barely read his electric meter so how is he supposed to fill in a long complicated form.
I have tried filling in the form but he doesn't know half of the answers, last time a support worker filled it in I think.
So he has been deemed fit for work even though he has never worked in his life and barely leaves the house.

It is just so wrong this constant assessment of people who clearly aren't fit for work, he was told he wouldn't be assessed again so why has he received this form.
Surely they should put a message on the system, person needs help filling in the form and organise it through the local council or something.
He is now left worrying about having no money.
I have now filled in the form and sent an explanation letter, so hope that sorts out this matter.

How long does it take to reinstate the benefits? has any one any idea?
Thank you.

Getting your ESA decision after the assessment.

This advice applies to England,

After your assessment, someone from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will look at the recommendation made by the assessor and use it to decide if you can get ESA.

It can take several weeks or months for the DWP to make a decision. If you haven't heard anything after 8 weeks, you could contact them to ask why you haven't had a decision letter yet.

Under Universal Credit ?

That may increase the complexity.

Don't shoot the messenger !
