Carer’s Allowance And income tax

All about money
One of the offsets against earnings when claiming Carer’s Allowance is supposed to be the income tax you pay in those earnings. However I’ve just had a Tribunal based in my exceeding the earnings limit. I assumed my income tax could be taken into account. However, your earnings on their own must exceed the tax threshold for the tax above that threshold to be offset.

This seems daft to me - if your earnings exceed the income tax threshold, there’s no way you can offset sufficiently to bring it down below the earnings limit!

Has anyone else come across this?
Hi Joanie,
I don't have any answers I'm afraid.
