partner has joined my esa sg claim and just applied for ca

All about money
hi all i hope you can help me out on this stressful situation, my partner has just moved into my property with our 5yo daughter, she has joined my esa support group claim is has just been awarded carers allowence for caring for me on the 4th jan 2016, this morning i recieved a letter from the job center stating we both have to attent the work focus interview to look at getting me back to work,

i am a bit confused as i am the one in the support group yet because my partner has just been added to my claim i have to now attent the interview or "my benifit could be affected"

the thing is i suffer from social phobia adhd and epilepsy and still know i am unable to work,

could somebody please shed some light on this for me please as to what i should do,

thank you for your help in advance
Hello Lee

I suggest that you contact the Carers UK Advice Line; they are very knowledgeable and will be able to clarify things for you.

You can talk to the Carers UK Adviceline five days a week, no matter where you are in the UK or how complex your query is. We do benefits checks and advise on financial and practical matters related to caring.

tel: 0808 808 7777
email: advice@carersuk.org
Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm

I would recommend emailing them in the first instance as the telephone lines are often over subscribed and it can be difficult to get through; but if you email them they will get back to as soon as possible.
I suspect that as they would count this as a "variation" it is standard to request a review. However, I believe that if someone is receiving CA they cannot be forced into work, and clearly you are unable. Others here on the forum have also been asked to attend an interview recently. The CUK helpline will give you all the official words you need, but I just wanted to try to stop you worrying too much in the meantime.
thank you every so much for putting my mind at rest, i will email carers uk and citizens advice service,

i did find it strange as on my letter is says i have to look for work and on my partners letter it said her partner (meaning me) but i am the disabled person and unable to work,

thank you once again
Hello Lee,

As Bowlingbun has said it'll probably be a variation review.

The main problem is that these letters are most likely to be computer generated & don't discriminate between differing personal circumstances at the time they are sent out & it won't be until you contact the DWP that it'll be sorted out & when an actual person looks at your case you may not have to attend an interview.

Please pop back & let the forum know the outcome.
