All about money
The carer’s allowance earnings limit will increase in April 2015 from £102 to £110 per week.

Falls £1 short of lower earnings level which means working carers still penalised as you need earn at least £111 to qualify for statutory sick pay.

Oh good, about time too, but a taper would be much better, the cliff-edge has merely moved a bit.
This interested me too:
households that employ a carer will benefit from an extension of the £2,000 annual national insurance contributions employment allowance from next April. It will mean that care workers can earn up to £22,500 without having to pay NICs.
How does that affect us as personal employers, I wonder? I havent seen anything about this before..
It would be really useful if Carers UK could put this in plain English for us. Using Direct Payments, I employ carers to look after my son.
Oh Good I make that £476.00 per month.
To get sick pay you must "earn at least £111 (before tax) per week"
That's the key: if you earn say £120 per week you may pay 20% tax on it, taking it down to £96 (though this depends on your other income including carers allowance and a private pension, which are taxable) . I certainly do pay 20% tax on all earnings because my main income is my occupational pension.
