HORROR story i hear is that now im hearing as a carer If universal credit comes in I WILL B FORCED TO WORK?? i cant do both.
ALSO that all claiments even if on pip all thyre ESA WILL BE CUT BY AT LEAST HALF? Am worriedxxx
Hi Shandy ... what you may have heard is false information ... there is NO compulsion for a carer , receiving Carers Allowance , to seek work once Universal Credit ( UC ) kicks in on their manor.

In fact , carers are excluded from UC if Carers Allowance is the only " Benefit " paid.

Yes , there are subtle difference when comparing" Old money " benefits with those payable under UC.

At this early stage , I recommend a full " Benefits " m.o.t. ... Carers UK has an Advice Team ... link follows :
Carers UK Adviceline 0808 808 7777

Our Adviceline is staffed by experts with extensive experience of dealing with the problems carers face. We provide free and confidential information and advice on:

* benefits and tax credits
* carers employment rights
* carers assessments
* the services available for carers, and how to complain effectively and challenge decisions.

Our freephone number is 0808 808 7777

Note: Our Listening Support Service is available Mondays and Tuesdays. This is a service which provides a space where carers can connect with a trained volunteer who is a carer or former carer to have a chat. The service is available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to 4pm by ringing the same Adviceline number above.

Or you can email us at adviceline@carersuk.org.

We will try to answer your email as soon as possible but we may not be able to do so on the same day.

Our website has a comprehensive information section where you will find a range of useful information about caring.

If you're new to caring please complete our UpFront Guide This is a simple tool for carers who are new to the maze of benefits and entitlements. Fill in your details, spend a couple of minutes answering questions and we'll guide you to the information you need.

Given the sheer volume of incoming enquiries , best to email.

Alternatively , there are several online benefit calculators which will produce a basic answer ... including the PIP element !
