Does an occupational pension effect carers allowance

Sorry, if this as been asked before.

If carers allowance is not effect - do you still need to directly inform carers allowance that you are in receipt of one.

No ... thankfully.

Occupational pensions do NOT affect CA ... and yet , CA ceases on one receiving the State Pension ... said SP demned a " Benefit " ... and one cannot receive two " Benefits " that overlap , only the higher of the two.

State Pension / Carers Allowance ... benefits ??????????????

Pages , if not books , on the various forums over the years on that one !

If a drawdown early to prevent financial meltdown during the caring days , once you reach the state retirement age ( As I did in February ) , the price for doing so becomes all too clear !

Mere 20 years service but ... drawdown now and ... an additional £ 120 per week ( With generous annual increases ) until the day I kiss goodbye to this Sad New World.

In essence , the price I paid for caring !

Don't forget though that Carer's Allowance counts towards your annual tax allowance, so if that is exceeded when CA added to your pensions you will have to pay Income Tax on excess!!

That's really useful information.... I'm in the process of sorting my pension in order to access drawdown next year... I assumed I wouldn't be able to claim carers allowance as I don't presently due to my income
