A Unpaid Carer receiving Personal Independant Payment.

All about money
Hello.
Being an Unpaid Carer for my elderly father for 5 years now has had its toll on me. Diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder and now possibly suffering from depression I have been told I should apply for the Personal Independent Payment because of mental illness. However I think all the DWP will tell me is if I need support because of my mental illness how can I be an Unpaid Carer for my elderly and poor healthed father.
Are there any ill Unpaid Carers out there making claims for PIP benefit and have succeeded in getting it?
From an Internet search ... CLAIMING BOTH PIP AND CARERS ALLOWANCE :

PIP can be paid regardless of your income, savings or National Insurance contribution record and is a tax free benefit.

You can get PIP even if you are working or studying.

If you are a carer who has care needs, you can claim PIP for yourself and this will not affect your Carer's Allowance.
