Hi All

Question really I have asked Social Worker for copy of Care Needs Assessment Form but she just keeps saying what the budget is. What I really want to know is how they reached that.

Any help gratefully received.

Just a little assistance here ... Care Needs Assessment from start to finish :

https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/e ... assessment

I assume that the needs have been identified BUT the LA haven't got the funds to meet them ?

If so , there is some guidance within the above link.

Write to Social Services, send it Recorded Delivery, to the Information Officer (look at their website) Make a "Subject Access Request" for all details about you they hold on their system. MUST be provided within 40 days. See the Information Commissioner's website.

Bernadette, don't be fobbed off by the social worker ... I had an Ombudsman case the Ombudsman instructed to local authority to give me copies of needs assessments and reviews. Only then did I get copies.
When I did get them back they were full of falsehoods to meet the needs of the Local authority to cut costs at the expense of my mother's needs.

This is happening a lot now with local authorities due to extreme pressure put on them with the austerity cuts to social care they can not cope with the costs so the assessments do not always accurately reflect the real needs of the person as this would mean spending more. Insist on a copy and read it carefully before signing it. If still no joy, raise a formal complaint as you have to wait 6 months from the formal complaint to the time you can take it to Ombudsman.

Hopefully it won't come to that with you and they will respond to your request. You have rights.
