Can't claim carers because i earn over the threshold

All about money
When we used a childminder last year, I was allowed to claim carers allowance, as my childcare costs were taking into consideration.
I stopped claiming in when my husband got made redundant so he could claim it as I upped my hours at work,
What costs are taken off your wage other then pension?
Thanks :)
Have a look at this thread Emma

Don't forget that you can add extra into your pension and 50% is counted as an allowance.
Thanks :) but I can't make sense

I don't pay into a pension because to qualify for my company pension I have to earn over £1000 a month, which I don't.

Sometimes my children go to an after school club, but it is not offside registered, does that count?
Hi Emma
I'm on a zero hours contract so I don't get any company pension scheme. I opened up my own stakeholder pension with Standard Life and can pay in variable amounts each month - or a regular standing order amount. It really is worth it because you get a tax allowance on top of your pension contribution as well as qualifying for carers allowance.
Yes, half of any pension contributions, plus any costs incurred as respite and childcare count, and they dont have to be registered, just receipted. I claim for swimming lessons, horse riding, anything.
