I would like to know - I am 24/7 carer to hubby. I get carers allowance. I am 53 n wondered if i could get disability money for myself as I have severe anxiety n depression n on medication. I am being referred from well being to MIND

You could probably put in a claim for Personal Independence Payment in your own right, as that is not means tested and is granted purely on the effect your health problems have on you without it affecting your Carers Allowance. I'd ring the Carers UK helpline just to talk through whether your health problems mean you might qualify, and if you decide to apply it's a long, complicated form and it's awarded based on a points system so you'd be better getting someone from a benefits advice service or citizens advice bureau to help you fill it in.

Thanks for yr replies. I have been in touch with carers uk advice and i think i will apply as i dont have anything to lose. I just wondered wot the possibilities were.
