mistake on Carers claim form

Hello

I hope someone can advise me, i care for my wife who has mobility problems and impaired vision, after waiting 13 months for her PIP claim this week she was awarded PIP on 17th Sept

I obtained a carers form to make my claim which was posted off the following day, so will most likely have reached them today, the problem is i didn't realise i could ask for my carers all ounce to be backdated 12 weeks, my fault not reading the notes provided with the form, and
on the question where it asked when i wanted the claim to start from i put the day the award letter claim, 17th Sept, feeling a bit stupid now not checking the notes.

so now stand to loose 12 weeks back dated pay or do they automatically pay the 12 weeks ?

Firstly, congratulations for winning your wife`s pip battle.

If you phone up the CA office and explain to them you have made a genuine mistake (being a stressed carer they will understand) and may be able to sort out a retrospective claim for you. I always find the staff at CA and DLA office easier to deal with and more helpful than the DWP who seem to see everyone as scroungers.
