You can just about get a razor blade between labour party conservative party, liberal have no back bone, theres just not much to get behind for the working/care people out here.
I shall be voting LABOUR for the first time in my life next time.
Not sure that would make much difference, Pete, since it was Labour who introduced the Bedroom Tax in the first place. The Coalition are just carrying on with Labour's original plans for Universal Credit.
Oh dear, I'd forgotten/didn't know that Gary. Problem is, as Royd says, There's 'B' all between the 'big' three nowadays. Lib Dems are big down here in the West Country, but have lost a lot of support since throwing their lot in with the Cons.
The back pedalling on tuition fees did for them here. Image

"Bedroom Tax", to get us back on topic! Image
It's about time voting was made compulsory for all entitled to vote BUT we should also have the option on the ballot paper to say that none of them get our vote.
Then we'd really see what the country thinks!
At least us Scots can vote for the SNP. I would never vote for Lib/lab/con. I did once vote for the Socialist party under Tommy Sheridan then realised my mistake and went back to the SNP!

Hi everyone, just a quick note to say that we have added a section on benefits to the forum.

There's a stickie in there with a document about the planned changes and how they will affect carers (including the bedroom tax): viewtopic.php?f=58&t=21236 This document also has information about what Carers UK are doing to fight these changes.

Hope it will help to answer some of your questions (if not let us know!),

Having seen the news and listened to various commentary on this and the reforms due to hit us I'm convinced things are going to go t**s up for this government. I think the whole thing is going to be unworkable and totally unmanageable. The eventual cost to the country (and the damage done to the vulnerable in the population) will far out-weigh any paltry savings - but then again that's not really what it's all going to be in aid of is it? Simply looking for scape-goats to blame all the country's ills on. What a fight we have ahead of us...
I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't marches in London (or something equivalent to the Poll Tax riots in Maggie Thatcher's time) once the cuts are fully brought into effect. It may even bring the coalition down. I have no political affiliation to any party, think they're all as bad as each other!
This as come in because of the government selling off all the council houses, right to buy, which should never been allowed, and they just never replaced the housing stock and now we are paying the cost of it.

Is this your own personal theory, Royd or is there some evidence somewhere you can link to which verifies this because it's the first I've heard of it. As far as I was aware, the Govt. are doing this to increase money into their coffers to help reduce the deficit.

Also, in our own area at least, housing stock IS being replaced by way of new estates and "villages" being built on the edge of towns, plus the fact that Housing Associations are always buying up houses for their market which have to go through the Local Authority first.
