I lost almost 5 stone doing the same sort of thing,in four months.(Slimming World).
I don't like pasta very much, and I don't like rice,plus I never drink beer.I can count on one hand, the number of units of alcohol I have consumed in the last five years!
A packet of sugar lasts our family about 12 months, it is only when we have visitors that it is used. I do agree about refined carbs. I prefer to make food from scratch, but I do like bread,and that is probably my biggest failing.
In winter, when many tend to put on weight, my family are likely to lose,as we stick with soups and casseroles.
