Hospice care and support

I went to a fundraiser for the local hospice on Saturday and was surprised to learn that 95% of their services take place outside the actual hospice building, usually in peoples own homes, day centres or other locations.

Another surprising fact was they couldn't run without the 1,000, yes that's a thousand, volunteers they have. And that is only one hospice!

Only one third of their funding comes from authorities, rest is voluntarily.

I was pleased to do my bit to help by eating cheese and drinking lots of wine :P :P

Sounds like a win-win!

Our friend's Mum was cared for and passed away in our local hospice, she and her family and her current place of work do lots of fund raising for it, by way of thank you and in their Mum's memory.

What a good way to support your hospice! I like to shop in their charity shops.
