hi .what about those who live in slightly posher housing assocations flats ,don't you know Image
Hi David c, have you not heard of the posh front door tax, any property not having a regulation blue ( con colours ) council front door will have there benifits capped, untill such time as they comply and stop being posh. If you have a porch, ooouuuchhhhh, bigger benifit cap, and we will not even mention sunrooms, i mean, disabled people and carers with sun rooms, just what is the world coming to. lets remember it will affect council and housing assocation homes too. if you have a 2 bedroom place the rent will be based on a 1 bedroom flat if you are a couple and the extra room is a spare room..

My private rent is £620

Image My private rent is £620 per month. I get £395 HB. I dont have to pay C/Tax.
We live in a detached property with two bedrooms. It used to be a shop and had bedrooms added in the roof space.
We have had our own bedrooms for the last 25 yrs. I snore and it made Jill ill through lack of sleep.
She also likes a warm bedroom, having the heating coming on and off during the night.
I sleep all year with my windows open and cant sleep in the heat.
I could just imagine if we were assesed by the powers that be. They would say that we dont need a two bedroomed place, a one bedroom flat will do.
If this should ever happen, then I'll let the state look after Jill and I'll go and be miserable in a poxy one bed flat in town.
I wouldn't be able to cope without sleep, it makes me ill.
I had a run in with a housing officer when I first lost everything due to Jill's illness. She said you dont need two bedrooms and if you snore, then your wife will have to wear ear plugs! I do, my old man snores like a pig!!
I pointed to one of the THREE notices around the walls that advised against swearing at the staff as the interview would be terminated forthwith. I said, No wonder you need all these notices with an attitude like yours!!
She was not amused Image

Hi Pete, the statement from

Hi Pete, the statement from the gov was the cap is set at 400 pounds, some councils will try and claw back more. Its a horrible situation and depending on what surprises they spring on us on the 20th it could and can get worse, but till we know all we can do is stress about it or joke and try to lighten the stress level, personally i am worried sick, we are hanging on by the skin of our teeth, and one more nail will probaly do for us. But what else can we do, except wait and see whats really instore for us, they cannot cut my benifits because i am entitled to none and receive none, Julie gets CA, and thats all she is entitled to, But Kerry Ann has incapacity and higher rate DLA indefinate. How will they asses her, and what cuts will affect her. Everything we have in the world is in this small place of ours. So we wait, between the banks and the goverment we are all stuffed in one way or another. So tomorrow will paint my non reg door regulation blue, and pray we can hang on long enough for things to improve a little bit.

I am in council but this week had a guy ringing from the benefits part asking if hubbys wage had gone up as with the new capping system we maybe affected, I dont think they believe me when I say he hasnt had a pay rise for 6 years and isnt likely to either. If we lose the bitof HB we get thn we will be affected financially.

Why I was taken in by David Cameron at that Cameron Direct roadshow he did I will never know but he seemed so sincere when asked about benefits fort carers and the disabled Image

Shurley you can appeal? I mean, you have proof that Paul hasn't had a pay rise.
Dont just give up, fight it, you have very good grounds.
I guess this has come from that chap ringing you the other day?

I hope you get some joy Nilla. It's not damn well fair Image Image

I had told his pa who is also my fife councillor who stays to doors from me that l am very wrried and stressed with the cut backs and now that my hb is going down to 360 from end of october l am already in the red as l supposed to pay an extra 20 pound a week l pushed myself so that means cutting back on gas and electric in arrears as well the council coulf not be botherd so mp is not really worried either l said how we who have pennies comming in not even minimum wage or to fund the cutbacks.

FIFE COUNCIL ARE TRYING TO CLOSE ALL RESIDENTIAL HOMES AND REBITE HOMES TO SAVE OVER 100 OR 200 MILLION POUNDS SO YET AGAIN THE 40 000 UNPAID CARERS SONE OF WHOM ARE ILL WILL HAVE TO INCREASE THE WORKLOAD FOR THE ONES YOU LOVE AND WE CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.

THANK ALL FOR THE COMMENTS MAYBE CARERS UK MANAGEMENT COULD COMMENT ON THE ABOVE AND THE SMALL 1 PERHAPS % WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIGHT THIS CONDEMNATION.
