This one is something to think about:
The greatest weakness of most humans is their hesitancy to tell others how much they love them while they're still alive.

Me, I think we should all become Muslims and do the socially responsible thing by taking on a new wife every seven years or so... just to keep them all on their toes... Image

Thank you Charles, that's truly beautiful and sadly true...
Several years ago my wonderful mum sent me a small card with the following. On the back she has put "From one who knows - your ever-loving mum xxx" I have just found it and thought I would share it with you all.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit
thanks Pearl, for sharing that. Such true and inspiring words! xx
Hi guys, another of my poems...

‘Reach for a Smile’

When times are tough and the need is high,
reach into your heart for a smile not a sigh.
It’s not easy to do but holds comfort for me.
Shows things can be good and helps me to see.
If only we take each day on its own,
It’s less of a struggle and feels less alone.

My smile is my way of giving me a hug.
It’s as warm as the tea in my earthenware mug.
So next time you feel down, worn-out or sad,
Remember a time when good things you had.
Stay still for a while; see how this hug feels,
And listen to your heart as your smile gently heals.

I got it bad
You don't know how bad I got it.
You got it easy
You don't know when you've got it good.
It's getting harder
just keeping life and soul together
I'm sick of fighting even though I know I should.
The cold is biting through each and ev'ry nerve and fibre
My broken spirit is frozen to the core.
I don't want to be here no more.

Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes even if it was for just one day
And wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away.
Wouldn't it be good to be on your side
Grass is always greener over there.
Wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care.

You must be joking
You don't know a thing about it.
You've got no problems
I'd stay right there if I were you.
I got it harder
You couldn't dream how hard I got it
Stay out of my shoes if you know what's good for you.
The heat is stifling
Burning me up from the inside.
The sweat is coming through each and ev'ry pore.
I don't want to feel no more. I don't want to feel no more.
I don't want to feel no more.

Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes even if it was for just one day
Wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away.
Wouldn't it be good to be on your side
Grass is always greener over there.
Wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care.

I got it bad you don't know how bad I got it, you got it easy you don't know when you got it good - it's getting harder just keeping life and soul together. Stay out of my shoes...
You must be joking you don't know a thing about it, you got it easy, you don't know then you got it good. I've got it hard, you couldn't dream how hard I got it, stay out of my shoes....(repeat to fade)
Nik Kershaw "Wouldn't it be good"
Elegy in a Country Churchyard

The men that worked for England
They have their graves at home:
And birds and bees of England
About the cross can roam.

But they that fought for England,
Following a falling star,
Alas, alas for England
They have their graves afar.

And they that rule in England,
In stately conclave met,
Alas, alas for England
They have no graves as yet.

G. K. Chesterton
