Courage

It brings hope
courage has strength
it brings faith
courage conquers hate
it brings joy
courage is will.

Just knowing that you & all Carers whatever forum they belong to, are here, gives me so much strength and courage Image

Here are some quotes that I thought of myself,

"A Carer is what you do, not who you are."

" A person with an illness or disability is only part of what they suffer from, not who they are!"

"The loved ones whom we care for have much to teach us and ultimately mould and shape us into better people."

Dear Paula - you have made me feel so emotional, by your kind words Image - thank you so much, I can see that you are an excellent Carer, as you have such a kind heart, and want to make others happy and bring out the best in them - thank you to extend your kindness to a Carer is very special. Well, my quotes just come to me whilst I care, and reflect on my Caring duties, I like to think and observe my situation and try to think of something positive & empowering about it - what I write is from the heart........

My ultimate muse/inspiration is my very special Cared one.

Here's another quote:

"Caring works both ways, there are times when our Cared Ones are capable for caring for us too in their own special way, and in ways that they know how to - and that's special."

"You are stronger than you think."

All my Love,

I was brought up to be truthful Lola and your words are a gift to be shared - I love these last two, I might be Mum's carer but there are times she's definately still my Mum - if you know what I mean Image

Take care

Hi Paula Image

I admire anyone who has the courage to speak their mind and tell the truth, because it takes courage to be honest, and that's why I find it an admirable quality. I am sure that your dear Mum is so proud of you, and indeed all the special Carers here, as we are here to help each other, and share our special qualities that we have learnt from the very special and dear people in our lives....

This has inspired me to think of another quote for those moments when the going gets tough....

"We should stand back, reflect and be grateful for what we can do, as these are gifts to assist the ones that need our help."

It would be great if the Carers could share their own quotes too, if they feel inspired too.

Have a great weekend!

The man I love is still in there
Though more often, harder to find.
I love him, not all the days of his life,
But all the days of mine
Myrtle - did you write that poem? - it is so beautiful and emotional - you are so talented!

Some more quotes

"If we did not care for our loved ones - who would?"

"Carers are angels in disguise, we protect, love and fight for their rights."

"Our Cared ones are angels in disguise - we need them as much as they need us"
An old favourite of mine from W.C. Fields is:

"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then stop. No use being a damn' fool about it."

I must be a damn' fool.
Lola, yes I did Image

It Only Takes a Moment

I watch him
As he sits there, doing nothing.
I feel his frustration
As I do everything.
But I remember
Loving and laughing and dancing.

It only takes a moment for a lifetime like this.

Now I wipe his bum
And I wipe his nose
Wash his body
And his pee soaked clothes.
And cry
Deep within my soul.

It only takes a moment for a lifetime like this.

But I remember
When there was nothing he couldn't do.
And now
Not one ruined life, but two.
yet you think
That it couldn't happen to you.

It only takes a moment for a lifetime like this.

And this one, too Image
