Somebody had to do it, so I thought: why not?

These ought to have been written for carers:

"I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end." - Margaret Thatcher

"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all." Dale Carnegie

Just at the moment, though, this one says it all - I can't remember who said it, but by golly it fits! "There is a fine line between genius and insanity. I have crossed that line."
Well done Charles I know you liked the poems and quotes subject. Think we should bring some over from old forum - what you think?

Take care

Here are some quotes that are so relevant and true with regards to Caring:

Some beautiful quotes from Mother Teresa

"We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty."

"We can do no great things, only small things with great love."

"One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to anybody
Love begins by taking care of the closest ones - the ones at home."

"In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love."

"Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat."

"If you judge people, you have no time to love them."
There are no strangers in the world, only friends we've yet to meet
I fight a battle every day
Against discouragement and fear;
Some foe stands always in my way,
The path ahead is never clear!
I must forever be on guard
Against the doubts that skulk along;
I get ahead by fighting hard,
But fighting keeps my spirit strong.

I hear the croakings of Despair,
The dark predictions of the weak;
I find myself pursued by Care,
No matter what the end I seek;
My victories are small and few,
It matters not how hard I strive;
Each day the fight begins anew,
But fighting keeps my hopes alive.

My dreams are spoiled by circumstance,
My plans are wrecked by Fate or Luck;
Some hour, perhaps, will bring my chance,
But that great hour has never struck;
My progress has been slow and hard,
I've had to climb and crawl and swim,
Fighting for every stubborn yard,
But I have kept in fighting trim.

I have to fight my doubts away,
And be on guard against my fears;
The feeble croaking of Dismay
Has been familiar through the years;
My dearest plans keep going wrong,
Events combine to thwart my will,
But fighting keeps my spirit strong,
And I am undefeated still!
It isn't the money you're making, it isn't the clothes you wear,
And it isn't the skill of your good right hand which makes folks really care.
It's the smile on your face and the light of your eye and the burdens that you bear.

Most any old man can tell you, most any old man at all,
Who has lived through all sorts of weather, winter and summer and fall,
That riches and fame are shadows that dance on the garden wall.

It's how do you live and neighbor, how do you work and play,
It's how do you say "good morning" to the people along the way,
And it's how do you face your troubles whenever your skies are gray.

It's you, from the dawn to nighttime; you when the day is fair,
You when the storm is raging - how do you face despair?
It is you that the world discovers, whatever the clothes you wear.

You to the end of the journey, kindly and brave and true,
The best and the worst of you gleaming, in all that you say and do,
And the ting that counts isn't money, or glory, or power...... but YOU!

Everyone of YOU counts,each and every day,not just for what you do but for what you are,never forget that.
The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around."

Leo F. Buscaglia

You have to go through the storm before you can reach the rainbow."

"To serve is to care; to care is to love and to love is to be human."
You have to go through the storm before you can reach the rainbow."
I really like this quote Lola, shall remember that one....So true!
Noticed this epitaph on a seat at Hest Bank, a popular mooring spot on the Lancaster - Kendal canal, Morecambe Bay, Lancashire.

Life passes by,
But memories of
Sail on
Thanks Maryann, I'm glad that you liked the quote - that's how I felt when I first came across it too! Image

It is not what he has, or even what he does which expresses the worth of a man, but what he is. (Henri-Frederic Amiel)

You are stronger than you think.

A New Day

This is the beginning of a new day ...
I have been given me this day
To use as I will.
I can waste it ... or use it for good,
But what I do today is important
Because I am exchanging
A day of my life for it!

When tomorrow comes,
This day will be gone forever,
Leaving in its place
Something that I have traded for it.

I want it to be gain ... and not loss;
Good ... and not evil;
Success ... and not failure;
In order that I shall not regret
The price that I have paid for it.

I will try just for today,
For you never fail ...
Until you stop trying.
