early morning rant

ok so here's my rant it's 4 15 am i have had 2 hrs sleep and sorted out sick wee and
poo ! yummy done 2 load's of washing and cleaned the missus ! now she is trying to rest i am sitting here thinking i do all this for £ 50 odd quid a week ! that is absolutely rediculous ! so why do we all do it ?
my grandmother who is'nt as ill as my wife is in a nursing home at a cost of 500quid per week to the local authority ! are us carer's cheap or what ?

I think that (in reality) we don't do it it for the money. We would be crazy, not to look for a better job for that piffling 'wage'. No I think we do it for love.

This just shows how important you all are, not just to those you love and care for, but to the country as a whole.

We have welfare reform taking a whole new direction. Some of it is most definitely needed but carers benefits have been ignored again. Other proposals affect disability benefits which in turn will affect carers.
If Osbourne and IDS fail, families will still be caring.

Refresh of carers Strategy... more words little action..... families will still provide care.

Soon we will have the issues surrounding the future funding of social care. Whatever comes out of that - families will still provide care.

This just a personal opinion and others here will disagree with me. However, even if they had hoyed £5 billion in to local authorities they have once again missed the starting point. Until they address the issues faced by family carers, especially those caring 24/7, who may/may not qualify for services, how long will any new system be sustainable.
The fact remains that support provided by families is essential, and in time will be even more vital, when social services and NHS cannot cope.

Nothing like a good rant in the morning I say. It's a harmless activity (as long as it is not directed at anyone) and lets off steam - better than simmering all day.

I keep a private diary on Google Docs and do my ranting in to that, maximum use of expletives allowed as I moderate it myself. My wife would be so hurt if she knew some of my darkest thoughts - best offloaded into the cavernous expanse of the WWW than directed at those you love.

Would you really trust the care to the 'professionals' unless you really had no other choice? I take pride in the fact that whilst I can, no-one can look after my Jan better than I can. Mind you I do have the odd rant from time to time. We all feel overwhelmed and undervalued sometimes. The Forum is one of the best places to let it all out, you can say just what you're felling with no fear of being judged, because we've all been there
