Hello Catwit

Glad to hear that you got Direct Payments started and I'm sure that you will find this suits you and your Mum much better once you have it all sorted out.

The link Matt gives is a great place for information when starting out with Direct Payments, In my case it was the CIL here in NI. They were a great help and guided me through all the ins and outs of being an employer. So use it to source all the information needed in handling DP.

I'm not sure why your Mum has to pay anything towards DP'S and it doesn't sound like £72.93 is alot for 20 hrs. I would look into this and ask your SW how its being calculated. I only get 15 hours DP for Mum which isn't alot, but I guess its better than nothing!

As with being the employer you will have to pay Tax and NI out of your Mums DP, but that link that Matt has given will explain all about it and if there is anything I can help you with pm me.

Take care

We're stilllllll struggling and still got no Direct Payment sorted out yet!

I think we're getting near the end of the process now, but it's not been easy if anyone remembers from the old forum, I had a huge DP thred updated practically daily on our struggle to sort out DP here in Scotland!
