Court of Protection Deputy

Hi Everyone,
I wonder if any one has felt compelled to apply to become a court deputy in order to ensure that only the right person can make decisions for a loved one? I have recently been involved in discussions with a practise nurse regarding my daughters health care and was politely but firmly informed that any decisions about her care were no longer entirely in my hands since she turned sixteen. My daughter has severe learning disabilities and cannot make decisions for herself. She thirty now, and as crazy as it sounds this is the first time I realised how few rights I have in this regard.
If a fellow carer has become a deputy or has any experience of the process, I would appreciate some advice.
