I believe that if you are using a car with free tax, that you can still drive it without your cared for, as long as you are doing something on behalf of the cared for.

YOu might want to check up on that, but it is what I have been told by DVLA and DSS.

So us, as carers, need to pay full car tax if we want to go out and do something for ourselves a couple of times a year, if our caree is being looked after for a little while?

Just another example of the unfairness to carers. We really don't mean anything to the government do we? We may as well not exist.

if you use the tax exemption for your car you must have the disabled person with you .

or you must be useing the vehicle for the benefit of the disabled person.
