It's all going pretty well. The social services lady has set everything in motion. This weekend we have to complete the financial assessment and carer's assessment forms. Any advice, please?

My son with learning difficulties, and my late disabled mum, had financial assessments every so often.
They should tell you in advance what information they need.
Money in the bank, other savings, pensions etc. etc.

In advance of the meeting, gather all the information together.
Then copy and print off 2 copies of the latest statements for each one.
One for them, one for your records, so that if there is ever any question, it's all to hand in one place.

They will really appreciate you doing this for them, and this will get the assets and income side of things all done very quickly.

More difficult is the "Disability Related Expenditure".
Councils can allow extra for all sorts of things, but Hampshire don't do a list, which is very annoying.
Make sure you think in advance about all the extra costs incurred because of the disabilty, extra washing, cost of detergent, damaged clothes, carpet wear and tear due to a wheelchair, whatever you can think of.

Hi. Hampshire County Council doesn't publish a detailed list but do give a general idea of what they consider on their website - https://www.hants.gov.uk/socialcareandh ... re-at-home - but by law that list cannot exclude other things that might count and they have discretion to allow more or less depending on circumstances.

You'll find the list under "Disability Related Expenditure" down the menu

Theory and practice are very different in Hampshire!

Six years ago now I had a care needs assessment. Iā€™m physically impaired but still was entitled to have one according to the rules. So I told the lady who was conducting the evaluation about what I wanted and did not need. As a result I now have a useable shower and a few different carers who come on a monthly basis for exercise only.

Make notes. Good luck.
