Ceredigion County Council here are very good and send out a renewal form a couple of months before.

The silliest parking ticket I got was in Chester. We could have parked on double yellows with the blue badge somewhere in the City Centre, but as in those days my wife could walk further than she can now, we parked discretely down a side street so as to leave the prime positions for people in wheelchairs. And still got a ticket! Because the writing on the badge had faded in the sun.

I wrote in and said that I was sure that their traffic wardens did a stirling job, but didn't they think that this was just a little bit petty? Got off it Image

Have finally had a reply from colchester, to say that we must pay the fine! We notice that the dept of transport recommends that LA's remind people that their blue badge is about to expire. We think that those who don't might perhaps take a more flexible attitude?? Image

My husband's blue badge expired

My husband's blue badge expired in June on his birthday. The date is very clearly written on the badge so there was no doubt when it expired. We have not renewed it as his mobility is now very good and he can go on 5 mile route marches on his own, which I would be unable to do due to my arthritis.

Our local authority doesn`t remind us to renew, and take a £20 administration fee from us when we remember to do it ourselves!

Take care
